Introduction to the Main Window

Both MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) feature an intuitive interface designed for ease of use. The main window consists of the following key parts:

  • Toolbar: Located at the top of the screen, providing access to various functions such as new orders, chart settings, and adding indicators.
  • Chart Area: Centrally positioned to display the price trends of selected currency pairs or financial instruments. Multiple charts can be displayed simultaneously.
  • Status Bar: Located at the bottom of the screen, showing connection status and account information.

Panel Descriptions

The main window includes several panels that provide essential information for trading.

Market Watch:

  • Market Watch displays a list of tradable currency pairs and financial instruments. Real-time prices and spreads are shown, and double-clicking opens the new order window.
  • Price Updates: Current prices for each instrument are updated in real-time.
  • Context Menu: Right-click for new orders, chart display, and detailed information on instruments.

Navigator:

  • Navigator Panel provides access to trading accounts, indicators, Expert Advisors (EAs), and scripts. Items can be easily used by dragging and dropping.
  • Account Management: Manage multiple trading accounts and switch between them easily.
  • Custom Indicators: Apply downloaded custom indicators to charts.
  • Expert Advisors: Add automated trading programs to charts to automate trading.

Terminal:

  • Terminal Panel offers information useful for managing trades and monitoring accounts. It includes tabs such as:
    • Trade: Displays current open positions and pending orders, with details and options for closing or modifying orders.
    • History: Shows past trade history, with options to view detailed transaction records for specified periods.
    • Alerts: Displays a list of set price alerts, notifying when prices reach specified levels.
    • Mailbox: Shows messages from the broker.
